It was in Higher Secondary Classes that I remember, when I was  introduced to the amazing concept called "increments" , also known as the amazing "dy/dx " in that big uphill task called Differentiation in Math.Irrespective of the nightmares the rest of its friends gave me,when you take Matrix and his buddies or Integration and his looneypals into co... more...

DO I NEED AN EXCUSE TO RETURN HOME?
The moment, the creaky gate groaned in protest and rightful hurt,I stopped and thought. Is it in the natural order of things to walk up to the front porch with a measure of guilt?Does it have to be with an air of impending heaviness, that I return the spiteful stare of my vacant home, surprisingly standing tall and proud, with not a hint of weariness?Sh... more...

Hope Springs Eternal
Its been almost two months since I stepped into this warm, well worn and cosy parlor.Thecool floor, tired of waiting, has seemed to have held innumerable conversations with the odd sunbeams passing through, and begun a habit of disinterestedly drawing patterns in dust,in sheer boredom. The garden air almost races through the opened windows,in brea... more...

A Soul that has seen the Gates of Hell….
The Dictionary explains disease as a disorder in a human, animal or plant, caused by infection, diet, or by faulty functioning of a process. The Dictionary being an impersonal tool for information, can afford to do that, spell out conditions, terms with clinical perfection, enlightening you with dread, in the end. I guess it has always been a part... more...

I believe the third best thing to happen to Planet Earth after Jesus Christ and Sliced Bread was the Customer Service Manager. I honestly do. Which was the driving force, alongside faith and hope, which made me trudge up the hallowed portals of the HP Service Cathedral in the city, with my Basanthi, snug and safe in my arms. Summer evenings at times brings in summer thoughts, surprisingly welcome guests, through the half open living room door. The sesame seeds on the odd chip cookies, frothy coffee that refuses to contain her scalding temper, window curtains that show off their waltzing skills to the passing breeze, all reminds you of slivers of time, that you have filed away... more...

Good Friday came as usual, quietly, and brought with it the usual heaviness of facing a horde of self-styled family "well''wishers, whose responsibilities towards my life exponentially increases during these get-togethers. Ramblings rammed down your throat
If I start somewhere would I reach a point of satisfaction? Or would I just keep on wandering and searching for a place to call my own- a place where, when I get there, I'll feel I have arrived!?!No. There is no such place which can give me the satisfaction of getting the feeling of having arrived. Why? Well, because no such place exists. Life is a...  more...

Why women marry
It’s always a wonder to me as to why women marry. Don’t get me wrong, but mostly I find that women marry the wrong sort of guy for the right reasons (eg, Karisma Kapoor), or marry the right sort of guy for all the wrong reasons (eg, Karisma Kapoor again). The more beautiful/successful they are, the more vulnerable they seem to be on this front. It’...  more...

Tashan Ve
It was a good thing that Tashan didn’t release in multiplexes. A hell of a lot of money was saved with cinema goers not having to fork out 150 bucks per ticket.Single-screen theatres were expected to do good business thanks to the movie not releasing in multiplexes, but with lacklustre reviews coming in from all corners, no one really went to a sin...  more...

Anjaadha review!!
I wonder how people are talking about this movie ("Anjaadhey") as a great movie! To me, it was very much incorrigble. The whole movie could have been shot in 10 minutes with 50 frames, but the director chose to kill the viewer slowly like slow-poison! Agreed, the movie is quite different from others, but just being different does not mean it's good...  more...

Our world is coming unravelled
I'm continually amazed by a kind of public blindness to the obvious realities around us. I don't want to go into details, arguments, justifications etc. because they obscure the big picture. I don't want to talk about global warming, unsustainable growth, extinction of species etc. because they seem like distant theoretical stuff to us.I'm stating ...  more...

‘Eating the Earth’!
Eating meat, dairy and eggs threatens our planet. You use much less land and water if you eat crops directly. Animals use most of the protein they eat to live, not 'grow' meat. So eating meat adds to water shortages, forest clearing, soil damage, use of oil-based pesticides - and climate change. "By 2050 the world's livestock will be consuming as m...  more...
